Environmental Assessment (EA) has been conducted to fulfill the requirements of government of Bangladesh and World Bank to determine any potential negative impact due to location, design, construction and/or operation of the project. The assessment has been conducted and reported under each sub project which leads to separate EA report for each shelter. The report introduces the location of sub project site and describes the physical, biological and socio economic environment of the site. Most of these data have been collected through field survey along with census conducted by other government organization. Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) have been conducted to determine issues and gather feedback. Due to the nature of the project, the environmental impact on sub project sites is minimal. During construction, noise, water, soil and air pollution will have insignificant impact on environment. Still steps have been identified to mitigate the impact. Some health and sanitation issues may arise while the shelters will be used during disasters. Local committees have been formed to ensure such problems can be solved using the proposed mitigation measures.
